Mahjong, Canasta & Vendor Market Returns on May 1 to Support Medically Complex Children鈥檚 Health at PATCHES
WHAT:
a nonprofit dedicated to raising funds and awareness for the medically fragile children at PATCHES Pediatric Nursing Center, presents 鈥淟et the Games Begin,鈥� a fun-filled day of friendly games, shopping and giving back at Bet Shira Congregation in Pinecrest. Join us on May 1, 2025, for a high-end local vendor market in support of medically complex children receiving care at PATCHES.
While the game portion of the event is sold out, we actively invite and encourage women in the South Dade Community to join us to shop at our fabulous vendor market. The market will feature a diverse selection of vendors, offering a variety of products perfect for shopping and gifting.
Additionally, we welcome and appreciate all donations that can be made through the 鈥淟et the Games Begin鈥� . Donors contributing $180 or more will be recognized as Heart of Gold sponsors, and we would love to expand beyond our current supporters.
All proceeds from the event will directly benefit programs and critical needs at PATCHES, the non-profit nursing center dedicated to providing high-quality medical care to children in poverty with complex medical needs.

About PATCHES:
Children who qualify for PATCHES Pediatric Nursing Daycare Center are usually referred from local hospitals–particularly Nicklaus Children鈥檚 Hospital–and may be suffering from medical complexities due to premature birth, terminal illness, recovery from complex surgeries, severe asthma, or other respiratory conditions, life-threatening cardiac issues, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, Down Syndrome, other rare genetic disorders, or birth to mothers with AIDS or drug addictions.聽 PATCHES staff also educate the families on how to care for their special needs child at night and on the weekends and works with social services to arrange supplemental caregiving services as needed.聽 59% of the families with children at PATCHES fall under the federal poverty level. While PATCHES receives Medicaid reimbursement for eligible patients, the facility largely relies on the community’s and donors’ generosity to fully meet its needs.聽 Due to the life-changing therapies, medical care, and educational support, most children at PATCHES eventually assimilate/graduate into the community and local school system with their normal peer group.
