Anne Arundel County Officials and Community Members Gather for Grand Opening of Rivian Service + Demo Center in Glen Burnie

All-electric automaker opens second Maryland-area location within 31,320 square foot space at St. John Properties’ Glen Burnie Crossing

Anne Arundel County officials and members of the local community recently joined Rivian Automotive, Inc. for the grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony for the all-electric automaker’s second Maryland Service + Demo Center, located at Glen Burnie Crossing in Anne Arundel County, Maryland. Rivian signed a full-building, 31,320 square foot lease with St. John Properties, Inc. at 77 Dover Road within the mixed-use community situated at the intersection of Ritchie Highway (MD Route 2) and Dover Road in Glen Burnie. Participants included Anne Arundel County Senator Clarence Lam, District 12; Anne Arundel County Councilmember Peter Smith, District 1; Anne Arundel County Delegate Gary Simmons, District 12B; and Anne Arundel County Community Engagement Officer James Jones. Following the presentation, the public had the opportunity to take demo drives of Rivian’s R1T, a 5-seat truck, and R1S, a 7-seat SUV.

The Rivian Service + Demo Center is designed to support current and future Rivian owners throughout the greater Baltimore-Washington, D.C. area and joins an existing location in Gaithersburg. The service center supports owners when more extensive vehicle service is required, in addition to Rivian’s network of mobile service vehicles that come directly to customers. Service can be scheduled through the Rivian app and directly with the company’s Service Support team. Nearly 30 people are employed at the new Glen Burnie Crossing facility.

“Rivian is going to be a significant contributor to the Anne Arundel County economy for decades to come, and the company provides a high-value and dependable electric vehicle solution,” stated Anne Arundel County Councilmember Peter Smith. “We thank Rivian for planting its flag here, making this facility a reality, and having the confidence to invest in Anne Arundel County.”

“Electric vehicles are flourishing throughout the country, and this new Rivian facility will help uplift the industry and the local economy,” added Anne Arundel County Clarence Lam. “Consumers are increasingly recognizing the benefits of EV ownership and it represents the future of transportation.”

Glen Burnie Crossing is an eight-building business community featuring nearly 160,000 square feet of space that specifically targets the automotive and automotive retail industries. Existing tenants include Advanced Mechanical Repair, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Collision Hero, and Line-X. Floor & Decor, a specialty retailer of hard surface flooring and accessories, is also located within the business park. More than 55,000 vehicles pass the site daily via Ritchie Highway, and nearly 80,000 consumers reside within a three-mile radius.
